21 Percent Food in Jakarta Not Eligible to Eat

As much as 21 percent of 759 food sample which sold in 31 markets are not eligible to consume. It is based on Jakarta Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM) research.

Head of the agency, Dewi Prawitasari said the research was done from January to October 2014. Foods which not eligible to eat are meatball, salty fish, noodle, tofu, fish, otak-otak, chicken meat, cotton candy, cendol, and etc.

Flood Victims Began to Suffer Various Diseases

"Mostly the foods contain formalin, borax, and rhodamin B. It endangers human body and could cause cancer," she said, Saturday (11/22).

She reminds all citizen to be more aware in consuming those foods, especially product without production license.

"Similar research and raid will still be held in all traditional markets," she added.
